In 2019 the British government put a tariff on Boeing parts after Boeing and, Europes Airbus were in a trade dispute. The United States retaliated by adding tariffs to British goods coming in to the United States on average of about 25 percent which made Scotch Whiskey and other British products more expensive.
In December the British government raised the tariffs on Boeing as a good will gesture and in response the United States has removed the tariff on British goods for four months. This means lower prices for your Scotch Whiskey, Stilton Cheese or in my case English Sweets (candy). The Scotch Whiskey Association has said the tariff has cost the industry over $690,000,000 and, the change will be a huge boost for the business.
Hopefully now that Britain is no longer in the European Union a long term deal can be a worked out with the United States as trade between the countries is beneficial to both.
