January 30th 2023: Many fast food chains as well as other restaurants have been experimenting with replacements for the traditional plastic straw. The idea is to be more environmentally sustainable and cut down on throw away plastic straws.
One of the main chains that is experimenting is Mc Donald’s which is testing a new strawless lid in select markets. The idea of a lid that you can drink from without the need for a straw at all seems to have go people on social media upset who would miss the straw. Its not like the idea of a lid that drink from is new if you have ever ordered a fast food or 7-11 coffee but drinking soda that way would be new.
I have tried other attempts to make the straws better for the environment such as Starbucks but often they desegrated after a few minutes. A lid with no straw sounds better to me but not everyone will be happy.
